How to get stronger and bigger as a 14 year old active boy?
-
So this is probably one of the hardest things I have to overcome. I'm barely 14 (3/15/98) and I only weigh about 105 pounds. My arms are pretty much sticks compared to everyone else. Because I skipped second grade I'm already a freshmen in high school. I was on the frosh/soph team for soccer last year and I played so well that the coach is consdiering putting me on the Varsity team next year if I can get stronger and buffer. Although I'd probably be on the bench the whole season, I still want to do it. So I was wondering if you guys could give me tips on how to get stronger and buffer. However, I dont want to become bigger by fat, because that would impact track and crosscounty. I dont have access to to a gym. Thanks for the help

Answer:
You sound in good shape. Start by trying to do pushups, as many as you can. Then do some running. Weights really help, but if you don't have that access, find heavy things to lift. Do alot of self-weight excercises, like curlups, situps, pushups, burpees, sprints. It depends if you wanna focus on arms, legs or core.

Eric, you give us your weight but not height. Since you're very active you'll need to add calories to your daily intake If you're taller than 5'1" then you need to build up weight through some sort of weights and eat more proteins as they "stick to your bones" without giving you much of a fatty look. I'm guessing you're about 5'5" or more and should weigh at least between 135 and 140 lbs. If so, you have a long way to go. I really don't know of any other way to get bulkier than eat more but make it nutritionally good foods. Add 500 calories per day and you should gain about one pound per week as long as you don't burn it off. If you're not allergic to peanuts, have a peanut butter sandwich. Add good fruits and veggies to the diet. Good luck and good health.

Hey there is no age restriction on a six pack...If anything it is easier to get one at your age then it is to get one at my age (22) when i was a little younger then you i had one (wish i still did) and the length of time all depends on you and your determination. For me it took two month to get and i did it when i was on holiday all it took was some what you could call heavy lifting, walking and swimming if you like do a little exercise per day it wont take you very long. Just remember when you work out to always warm up and start slow because if you go right in for the heavy work out A you will hurt something and B you will build muscle under any fat you do have and it wont give you good definition (aka a 6 pack). Another thing to remember is that when it starts to hurt it means its starting to work because when you work out to build on existing muscles the way it works is you tare your muscles and they repair themselves by building back on themselves hence you grow muscles so pretty much when it hurts its working just know your limits. Just don't go crazy its not about what other people will like its about feeling comfortable with what you see in the mirror because there will always be someone who doesn't like how you look and if you care too much you will drive yourself crazy. =]
