Best schools for Fashion Photography?

Fashion Institute of Technology for photography?

• I realize this is a very competitive school for fashion, but what about photography? and is my essay good? i don't want you to critique it because i already sent it in i just want to know your opinion on it. Art has been something that has interested me my whole life. Ever since I was young I remember taking photographs on my old Olympus point and shoot camera, drawing in my sketch pad and expressing myself through clothes. I also believe I have sacrificed a lot for art. I’ve sacrificed “fitting in” because I dressed differently, sacrificed time I could be spending with my friends to take photographs or even annoying my family at vacation because all I wanted to do was to take pictures. To me it was all worth it though because believing in yourself and doing what makes you happy is more important then trying to be like everyone else. If everyone was the same the world would be a boring place, which is why photography interests me so much. Capturing images that you can have for a lifetime is astonishing; especially when it’s something different or from a new perspective that hasn’t been seen before. It’s a way for me to show life through my eyes that I can present to others. I enjoy that there is never a right or wrong answer in photography unlike classes like math and science; instead it can be judged by ones opinion. In my first year of taking a photography class in high school my teacher talked to me after class and told me I have a talent in photography and told me to keep shooting. From there I enjoyed making my portfolio that I hope to further advance. During my years of high school I’ve received Excellent Imagination & Creativity in Photography, Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Studio in Photography, and Excellent Imagination & Creativity in Drawing and Painting awards from my teachers that they give out to a few students at the end of each year. I also just won a Silver Key and two honorable mentions in photography from the Scholastic Art Competition. It is an honor to be recognized for doing something I love. Going to FIT, one of the best fashion and art schools would be a dream to me. I am always someone who wants to experience something new and being in the city would open up a new world of possibilities I didn’t necessarily have before. Growing up in a small town in _________ I was always limited to the variety of pictures I could take but that to me is what I believe made me a better photographer. It forced me to be more creative and to use what I have. When my friends were trying to decide on what they wanted to major in most of them decided on something that makes a lot of money but to me I couldn’t do anything I’m not passionate about. I could never see myself pursuing anything else but photography. I find challenging myself is fun, and in photography that is always possible. I believe I would make a perfect candidate for FIT because I am a strong believer in being an individual and art it all about creating something new and different. I will be sacrificing stepping out of my comfort zone being in the city and being far away from my family but I know that’s where I need to be.   Professional Photography is in steep decline. Your career prospects would involve manning a photo booth at KMart. Fashion is a frivolous business attractive to ditzy girls (and boys) who don't understand how few jobs there are.
