What are my chances of getting into the university of maryland?

Chances of Getting into the University of Maryland: College Park?

  • I am currently a junior in the state of Maryland. I have a 3.7 GPA. I am involved in a couple clubs, such as Key Club, National Honor Society, and MSA. I don't play any sports because my parents don't want me to. I have 100+ volunteer/community service hours. I took the SAT's for the FIRST time and got back my scores TODAY; I received an 1880 overall. 560 Critical Reading, 730 Math, and 590 Writing. I understand UMD-CP only looks at CR and Math scores so that would be a 1290. I plan on taking the SAT again in october before applications are submitted, and hopefully I can improve on my low CR score. What are my chances of getting admitted? I did some research myself but I'm not sure. Will joining a lot of clubs next year so I can put them on my application help me at all? Unfortunately my GPA won't change until I hopefully get A's in classes senior year- but that would be already after I submitted my applications. THANK YOU

There is a myth that a lot of ECs will enhance your application. You are much better off improving your grades. Your GPA will be recalculated to consider only your academic courses and those on a 4.0 basis. I think you will be good for admission but have backup plans just in case.

Im sure youll get in . I just got my decision today. I was sure I wouldnt get in but I somehow did. I have a 2.58 GPA and go t a 1850 on my sat(1250 critical reading and math).
