If you get the dynamo, which are being used in bi-cycles to light the headlamp of cycles. Then use it as a turbine, with slight modifications. Fit the head of the dynamo with small steel sheets /plastic sheets that would function as fan. Connect the turbine with a battery for storing power.

Since you are talking about a small homemade turbine Im assuming there isnt going to be a lot of torque involved, so the blades dont need to be that efficient. Why not cut up someegg cartons and use the cups to catch the wind. You could even mount this kind of thing on a vertical axis
