Football Manager 2012 opinions?

Personally I think the game is overrated. The actual matches are simply awful. PC's are meant to be the best for graphics, look at Battlefield 3. And SEGA cant even put together a simple 22 people kicking a ball with some people watching. It looks like some 7 year old has made it at home. The gameplay is also so linear and almost rigged. I am/was in my second season with Wolves who had been relegated and I bought loads of good players in. Statistically I have the best team especially strikers in the league. My best striker Kevin Doyle missed 9 on in one chances in one game getting 1 on target. He just smacks it 30 yards wide. All until they break away and score in the 85th minute with their first shot of the game. This happens every game!! I try changing formations, using subs, calling shouts but all of these have little effect on the games. It's as if the games have already been decided. But, I cant knock the game for everything else outside of the match which is top class. All they need to do to make it perfect is to improve the most important part of the game, the matches and the effect of the managers decisions on them. Is Fifa Manager 12 any better? What do you think of FM2012? Am I doing it all wrong? Thanks!
