What are some tips on becoming a beta game tester?

  • I would like to beta test games such as games like World of Warcraft, but I do not know how to get started. could someone possibly give me some helpful tips on how to get started?

    from what ive read you need to get ahold of the company releasing the game an talk to them on becoming a beta tester an they will send you some sort of invite to test out the beta. i could be wrong though but that would be the best idea to me. jus contacting a company an asking how to become this. edit- eva that is to be a tester. not the beta. the beta is what get released to the public before the actual game. unless thats what the asker was actually asking then ya you got that part right haha.

Apply for the job at the company. However, you have to be aware, this is a job like any other, but also, unlike anyother. You won't be given a game to play and sat in front of a tv, given pizza, cheetos and coke, and told to play! THis is a typical day of a game tester: 1 Come in at 8am and meet with your lead to discuss the previous day and talk about the day. 2. Get your cd with the one section of the game you get to play. Maybe it's the intro, a middle section or the end, whatever. You are never given the complete game. 3. For the next few weeks to several months, you will be playing that same section of the game. Over and over and over and over. Looking for bugs, looking for clipping, anything. 4. Break for lunch! 5. Back at #3 until end of day. 6. Report to Lead your findings for the day and turn in your cd. 7 Go home and prepare to do this day in aday out until the game goes gold.
