What direction is the forest in minecraft?

There are two ways: 1)Find a seed in the internet that spawns you in a forest biome. 2)Just explore until the world generates a forest.

The latest version of minecraft now includes jungle biomes which are like forests gone mad! Take a look at the web map on my server (address below) and you will get an idea of the distribution. Minecraft worlds are infinite in size and will contain many instances of each biome. There are several strategies you can apply to try and find a particular biome, here are my tips; Keep changing the level seed until you start in a forest. This will probably be quickest. If you do want to explore a map; Travel only in one direction - if you start to wander you might end up going in circles and the third desert you come across might be the first again. In SSP a good strategy might be to wander for 5 mins in one direction then die and go back to the start and set off heading east, then south then west from the same start point and dropping a trail of logs or planks so you can find your way back. This will mean not having to walk for miles if you die after you have picked a spot to settle in (and before you slept in a bed). build pillars to get higher up and see further, you just have to wait for the chunks to load... Bear in mind that the above strategy will generate a lot of data on your disk, so once you know which direction to go in, it might be an idea to delete the map and regenerate it to avoid having all those previously exploerd chunks taking up room unnecessarily. Craft a map. the recipe is on www.minecraftwiki.net - you need to find some bamboo to do this (look in deserts) This will help you see where you have and haven't been. If you set up a local server (and use the same world seed) there are a few extra things you can try; Switch to creative mode and try flying about - it's easier to see further If you use bukkit, you can get hold of plugins that generate chucks without having to visit them (libertas loader) and mapping plugins like dynmap (which i use on my server) This can make finding stuf a billion times easier, but is a bit trickier to set up.

Minecraft is a randomly generated world. You can use a seed from the Internet to spawn a forest world. Otherwise you just have to keep walking till you find it.

Every world is random. If you want to find a world with a forest for sure than google 'minecraft forest seed' and you should find a couple different seeds for a new world that *might* spawn you right in a forest. Good luck!
