It serves as a model of how we should pray. Our Father thou art in Heaven, hallowed by thy name, This teaches us that we are speaking with God and should come to him reverently, and respectfully. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Tells us to pray for his coming and that until then his will, not our own be done. Give us this day our daily bread Teaches us to ask for our needs to be met, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors teaches us that we should ask for forgiveness and that we should also forgive. And lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil, teaches that we should ask that He guide our path and not let the enemy get a foot hold in our lives. For thine is the power and the glory forever, Amen. Tells us that once again we should reverence God and come humbly before Him and give him worship when we pray.

Thy will be done means that my ego thoughts won't rule my life. There is only one God and He is in everything real. The ego is not real.
