Answer:
In chronological order, the 3 Eras: Enterprise Era: Star Trek Enterprise Series (2151 to 2154) You can watch all of Enterprise if you want, but you don't need to. I recommend watching 1 out of every 3 episodes. ______________________________________... The Original Series Era: Star Trek Original Series (2265 to 2269) Only watch the best. It is easy to get lost or bored with the Original Series. ______________________________________... The Movie Period: Star Trek: The Motion Picture (~2274) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (2285) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (late 2285) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (2286) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (2287) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (2293) Watch Star Trek II, III, IV, and VI. You can skip the Motion Picture and the Final Frontier. You aren't missing anything. ______________________________________... The Next Generation Era: Star Trek: The Next Generation Series (2364 to 2370) You can skip most of the first and second seasons of The Next Generation. But make sure to watch the middle and later episodes. Star Trek: Generations Movie (2293 and 2371) This really helps clear up things such as what happened to the Enterprise-D, what happened to Kirk, etc. Better watch it. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Series (2369 to 2375) Star Trek: Voyager Series (2371 to 2378) I recommend watching Deep Space Nine and Voyager at the same time. Both are good shows (but Voyager is better), and there is a bit of overlap. ______________________________________... The Next Generation Movies: Star Trek: First Contact (2373) Star Trek: Insurrection (2375) Star Trek: Nemesis (2379) Watch all of the NG Movies. You can watch them back to back, or you can watch First Contact during Voyager and Deep Space Nine. ______________________________________... Don't watch the new movie (Star Trek 2009). It is a waste of time and only messes up the time line and makes up tons of wrong facts. Well that pretty well sums it up. Good luck...

watch the entire first series, then all its movies, then next generation and all its movies, then deepspace nine and stop there.... generations overlaps ds9 in the end but i wouldn't worry about that...

The movies all come after the series. You only need to worry about them in context if you decide to watch Deep Space Nine and Voyager as well. Personally, I'd ignore the movies and just watch the three TNG series.
