How to test for arterial health?

How much more accurate is a pregnancy test from the health department compared to a stick test?

  • I have missed two consecutive periods. I havent had one since mid-January. I've never been that late before. but ive taken like 8 stick test that all come back negative. My husband and I planned on going to the health department today but are the Urine tests there really more accurate? Its 15 dollars and I don't want to waste the money if its just a stick test. I hope someone can answer my question. we really want to see a positive.

  • Answer:

They're exactly the same. From experience, First Response is the most accurate test because it picks up the lowest amount of HCG.

It is the same test. They just stick it in the cup they have you pee in.

Call and ask the health department if they are offering a blood test or a stick test. If it is a stick test, it's not worth it. What you need is a blood test which is the most accurate method of telling whether or not you are pregnant. Some women don't have enough of the pregnancy hormone in their urine to get a positive reading even if they are pregnant.

They are no more accurate than the ones you buy in the store. It isn't a "stick" but it is a urine test that they dip a swab in that produces the same sort of line/no line results that any other test would. You are probably not pregnant. It would be very uncommon to not get a positive result by the time you've missed two periods. Not impossible, but VERY unlikely. Save your money (can't believe they charge you $15!!!) and put it towards seeing a doctor for a blood test.

That's really odd that they charge you $15 for a urine test? Usually those tests are free and meant for use after 6 weeks pregnant because they are less sensitive than the early response tests. What they are giving you is essentially the same as a stick test. They will use strips to test your urine for HCG the same thing over the counter tests do. I highly doubt you are pregnant if you keep having that many negative tests. I wouldn't waste your money. There are other reason that could be causing your missed period.
