How old do you have to be to get a job in Michigan?

    You have to be 14 to work in Michigan (outside of farm jobs). Many places will not hire until you are 16 because it is a greater legal risk due to many more restrictions, the only place I know for sure that hires 15 year olds is McDonalds. I'm sure there are others, but I used to be a supervisor at a McDonalds in Michigan, that's how I know. There are limitations while you are 15... you can only work 3 hours a day on school days, no later than 7pm during school season and 9pm in the summer. You also can not work before 7am on the weekends, or more than 8 hours on a weekend day (and along with all minors, work no more than 5 hours without a 30 minute break). You may also be restricted on the type of job you can do, even at McDonalds you will be restricted from certain types of equipment).
