What are the best SUNY schools?

What SUNY schools should i apply too? HELPPP!!!!?

  • What SUNY schools or Tri-State area schools (NY) should i apply to with my grades GPA: 82 SAT: 1050 I have two sports clubs and good essays etc. But what main colleges will accept these grades? What are my chances at: Cortland, Brockport, Oswego, Plattsburgh, Hofstra, Monmouth, Bloomsburg (in pennsylvania) Any other schools i shouuld look into?

    Go to each college's admissions page and check out the most recent freshman profile. That will show you the middle-50% GPA and SAT/ACT score range. Talk to the admissions departments at these schools as well- bring unofficial transcripts for grades, scores, etc. and ask them to tell you what's alright and what you should improve on. You may be able to judge your chances this way. If you have time between now and when you have to apply, get yourself some SAT study books/practice tests and sign up to re-take it. You could also try taking the ACT- some people do better on one test format than the other. Honestly, your score is on the low side, and you're going to need to make up for your mediocre grades somehow. Even though some of these schools aren't super competitive. For example, Oswego accepts about 48% of their Freshman applicants. That doesn't mean it's a terrible school-- I was a straight-A student in high school and I chose to transfer here after CC because of the atmosphere... and because they have a Biochemistry degree certified by the ACS (I wouldn't have bothered applying if they didn't). Anyway, you might have a chance, but you'll be on the lower end of the acceptable applicant pool. You'd better be prepared to work your butt off and improve your stats if you want a better shot anywhere.
