I have stiff coarse curly hair. how could i make it more wavy/soft/and have more movement?

I'm mixed. My mom is white as heck and my dad is half black but I got his kinky curls. I did some relaxers and really damaged my hair. I cut off all the bad ends and now my hair is just past my shoulders. I don't know what to do with my hair. Its so short! And i hate wearing it up! I just want to have nice hair. My hair makes my confidence so low. I hate it :/ my hair makes me feel so ugly. The only way I can wear it is straight using an iron. But I don't want to damaged my hair. I want it to grow out and be healthy because I'm finally proud of my kinky curls but until then I dont know what to do. I tried twisting it, putting my hair in socks everything but it ends up being so stiff and not how the girls on youtube hair does. HELP!
