Which university should I choose?

Answer:
All are great engineering schools and most are on the list of "best prepared for the workforce" compiled by the WSJ last year. (I know VT, PSU, and WVU are on there. I know NCSU has a good mechanical engineering program because I have friends who graduated from there. I really don't know much about Temple's program.) Honestly, they are all public universities, so they're even in that regard. Taking Temple out of the equation (simply because I don't know about them) if you interview anywhere with an ME degree from any of these schools, you will easily compete with graduates of the other 3 schools. They are all pretty even from a "respect" position within the engineering industry. My recommendation is to let cost drive your decision. Take a look at your home state school(s) in-state tuition(s), look at the out-of-state tuition for the other schools, and go with the least expensive. Consider using the money you save for graduate school. --- Just to follow up, take a look at this link... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704554104575435563989873060.html Penn State is #1 overall among corporate recruiters, rank 9th in Engineering. NC State is #19 overall and rank 15th in Engineering. Virginia Tech is #13 overall and rank 5th in Engineering. WVU is in the "next 20" overall (there is a link near the top) and rank 23rd in Engineering. (No knock on Temple, but they don't make the list.)
