What is internship jobs?

Why the heck do I suck at retail jobs but I'm good at my difficult office internship?

  • I've worked at target, theyve told me to pick up the pace that I work, and I felt like I was going as fast as I could. I eventually was told I had two weeks and they would evaluate me, so I quit because I felt as though I was doing fine. I work at Marshalls now, and I work on the floor. When I close, the manager tells me the store was messy and I should "increase productivity to get more hours!" and because I'm a newer person they assume I'm to blame for stuff they can't prove. Another manager stood up for me when they said the store was messy, and said that there was nothign I could do it was a BUSY night. The manager that I work with never has a problem with me, because they know the circumstances. But it seems like that once these people get something in their head about you, they've made up their mind. I had an internship for a magazine and I was exceptional there. I never got talked to once and excelled. Most people would have much trouble at this. Why do I find time management or retail jobs harder then "difficult" jobs!!!!???

  • Answer:

I'm assuming your internship was unpaid??? If they weren't paying you then they wouldn't really moan at you and they don't put high expectations on you because they understand you are an intern. The managers in your retail work though are paying you and they expect work to be done as efficiently as possible because they are paying your wages and "time is money" and all that. In my weekend retail job I'm often trying to do several things at once and it is tough sometimes because you also often get customers asking you stuff all the time (even stuff which they could easily find themselves!) and people you work with also often give you other stuff to do on top of that so you do have to go as quickly as possible.

Retail mcjobs can have picky supervisors because they're in turn being watched for overall shift performance. Find a job out of the public eye like the magazine one and you'll be much happier regardless of pay.
