Can I transfer college?

Can I drop my credits from community college to transfer to a university as a freshman?

  • I have been slacking off in community college because well it's community college. I have only 18 transferable units and I can't bring myself to care about it because it's not a university. But I really need to get on course. I got a really high SAT score and maintained a 3.0 in high school and the only reason I went to community college is because I thought it'd be cheaper. But it's not going. Is there a way I can drop those 18 units and transfer to a university as a freshman or keep them and transfer as a lower division transfer? I'm thinking of Cal State Long Beach

  • Answer:

Visit your 'advisor' at the prospective university. In general ALL your grades will follow you. If you are granted a 'forgiveness' of those grades you will not be allowed to drop any future 'bad grades' from your record. You might have to enter on 'probation'.

Hell no. Your application will ask about credits and its in your best interest to disclose. How bad could you have done at CC that it should hold you back? Whats the transfer GPA cutoff or average at your destination school? More importantly, and I mean this in the least rude way possible...If your doing poorly at a CC, what makes you think it will be different at a university? The idea that you can't care about a college your attending (and paying for) because it's not a university is quite irresponsible and doesn't speak well for the dedication required to do well at a university... No offense.
