Why does my chest bone hurt?

Yesterday i walked on the treadmill while carrying 2lb dumbbell each hand. I did some triceps, biceps, deltoid exercise while walking on the treadmill..yesterday night i accidentally bumped my chest and it feels like there is a bruise (not a sharp bruise).. Is this the reason? Will it really hurt? Im not sure if the sternum hurts or if the bones or ribs beside it hurts.. It is on the middle part of the chest..any theories?
