How long did it take for you to train your dog to stop biting?

  • We got an 13 weeks old puppy who has an biting problem on biting our hands which we are still trying to teach him but no luck how long did it take you? We have tried timeouts, chew toys, spanking him (not hard just a few taps ), and so forth still no luck We are his 3th owner. i am guessing it may have something to do with the past owners who did not teach him well

    It took minutes to train mine, and I have four! When he bites, pop him on the nose (maybe a little harder than what you're doing, just not incredibly hard, ya know?) and yell a FIRM "NO!" Another way I used, was when he bites you, try to make yourself sound like a puppy in pain (lol it sounds weird but it works). And a third way: ignore him when he bites. He may be biting you for attention, whether it's good or bad attention. Just put him down and look/walk away from him when he bites. Good luck! :-)

my dog is now 10 weeks i remember when he has biting issues.... for me it takes me less than 2 hrs? well its just pretty fast.... and he learns fast on how to control it.
