Fallout: New Vegas crashes?
-
Well, here is the problem I am experiencing: I play for about 30 minutes and the game is running perfectly. After about 30 minutes I get a small freeze, maybe like 1-2 seconds. A short while after that, I get a longer freeze; 5 seconds. And a while after that I get a terminal freeze that requires my system to be restarted from the button (since I can't even alt tab to the desktop or open the task manager - the whole thing freezes). After the restart if I try to open up NV again, I can play for about a minute and the system freezes again, needing to be restarted again. HOWEVER, if I wait for about a day (one hour doesn't work, 6 hours doesn't work - it has to be more than 12 hours), and THEN open NV again, I can again play for 30 minutes before the same thing happens again. Here is some more useful info that might be useful :D -I don't have this problem with any other game. I can run Crysis 2 and AC: Revelations and DIRT 3 with absolutely no problems at a constant ~30 FPS for as long as I want. -I run NV with game booster because I thought it had something to do with another program in its way, but that still doesn't help. -I have "Speedfan" installed (a fan speed control program) that keeps all of my components in a desirable temperature range. -My computer specs are as follows, according to game booster's analysing tool; all drivers are absolutely up to date: ---------------------------------- 01 - Operating System ---------------------------------- 0101 - Operating System : Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100427-1636) 0102 - Language : English (Regional Setting: English) 0103 - BIOS : Default System BIOS 0104 - Processor : Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6300 @ 2.80GHz (2 CPUs) 0105 - Memory : 2048MB RAM 0107 - Page File : 726MB used, 4240MB available 0108 - Windows Dir : C:\WINDOWS 0109 - DirectX Version : DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) 0110 - DX Setup Parameters : Not found 0114 - DxDiag Version : 5.03.2600.5512 ---------------------------------- 02 - Processor ---------------------------------- 0201 - Caption : Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6300 @ 2.80GHz x2 ~2800MHz 0202 - Current Clock Speed : 2800MHz 0203 - L1-Cache : 64.00 KB 0204 - L2-Cache : 2.00 MB ---------------------------------- 03 - Video Adapter ---------------------------------- 0301 - Card Name : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 0302 - Manufacturer : NVIDIA 0303 - Chip Type : GeForce GTX 460 0304 - DAC Type : Integrated RAMDAC 0305 - Device Key : Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0E22&SUBSYS_000000... 0306 - Display Memory : 768.0 MB 0307 - AdapterRAM : 768.00 MB 0308 - Current Mode : 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz) 0309 - Monitor Name : Plug and Play Monitor 0310 - Driver Name : nv4_disp.dll 0311 - Driver Version : 6.14.0012.8558 0312 - Driver Language : English 0313 - DDI Version : 9 (or higher) 0315 - Driver Beta : False 0316 - Driver Debug : False 0317 - Driver Date : 10/8/2011 06:50:00 0318 - Driver Size : 4226688 0319 - VDD : n/a 0320 - Mini VDD : nv4_mini.sys 0321 - Mini VDD Date : 10/8/2011 06:50:00 0322 - Mini VDD Size : 12791488 0323 - Device Identifier : {D7B71E3E-4D62-11CF-DE42-0C2000C2CB35} 0324 - Vendor ID : 0x10DE 0325 - Device ID : 0x0E22 0326 - SubSys ID : 0x00000000 0327 - Revision ID : 0x00A1 0334 - DDraw Status : Enabled 0335 - D3D Status : Enabled 0336 - AGP Status : Disabled 0337 - Notes : No problems found. 0338 - OpenGL : 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-0845) ---------------------------------- 04 - Memory ---------------------------------- 0401 - Total Memory : 2.00 GB 0402 - Free Memory : 1.05 GB 0403 - Total Pagefile : 4.85 GB 0404 - Free Pagefile : 4.13 GB 0405 - Bank Label : BANK0 0406 - Speed : NULL MHz 0407 - Total Width : 64 Bits 0408 - Capacity : 1.00 GB 0405 - Bank Label : BANK2 0406 - Speed : NULL MHz 0407 - Total Width : 64 Bits 0408 - Capacity : 1.00 GB ---------------------------------- 06 - Motherboard ---------------------------------- 0601 - Model : P45XE 0602 - Manufacturer : ASRock Can anyone please help? :) Thanks!

Awesome leaving the specs and all but for once you don't need em. New Vegas was/is glitchy as all hell. It's not your system, it's the game. The patches help a little bit but there's areas that just never ran right. Far as I know they never fixed the corrupted saves either. BIGGEST ADVICE: DOUBLE OR TRIPLE SAVE. If it crashes out hard it CAN and WILL corrupt you saves and you'll lose everything. I lost 20 hours on my first play through and when I emailed tech support I literally got a "tough poop. you should save more" email. They really shouldn't have cared less. It's an awesome game and once you get past the beginning the freezes don't happen as much. It's kinda like having to take the good and bad. It's awesome to play but has a lot of issues. Worth it, if you can work past the bugs. (EDIT: We're surprised because most people don't leave spec. Or aren't smart enough to. It's gotta be one of the most frequently asked things in gaming "i have a problem" questions though. but at the same time, this time at least, it's funny cuz the game (on release espeically) became notorious for glitching/crashing out.)

Its interesting that you left all the specs and requirements but you should know that Fallout New Vegas is just a buggy game. It has always been. It happens to me alot. The thing I do is save where im at and turn it off and on. It stops the bugs for awhile. Fallout New Vegas is such a great game but is held back by alot of glithches.

Ok So I realize that this is 2 years ago but if anyone looks at this page or if you are still having problems go to this page and do everything it says. It's a lifesaver and made my game run almost perfectly.... http://steamcommunity.com/app/22380/discussions/0/522730700736948013/
