How do you import a video in Windows Movie Maker?

How do I import video clips from You Tube into Windows Movie Maker?

  • hi i'm looking to make a film trailer for a film based on a book i've written, so i've chosen the cast and everything, but obviously because its not a real film i cant get actors/actresses to act scenes out for the trailer, so i was thinking of taking appropriate clips from films they have done and sticking them together. i've found clips on You Tube, is there any way of cutting bits out and sticking them into Windows Movie Maker for my trailer? No copyright intended, purely for my own entertainment and creativity purposes. sorry if the question didnt really make sense :D good answers appreciated, thanks in advance :-)

  • Answer:

Old versions of Windows Movie Maker won't allow you to directly import flash video (FLV) files. If you are using one of those, you need to download the video from youtube and convert it to a format like WMV, MPG or AVI that is recognized by WMM. You can use the "Free Download Manager" to download the video and convert it at the same time: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ If you don't want to use FDM as you already have the FLV file, you can convert it using "Format Factory" or "Any Video Converter Free" edition.

With this freeware, you can download YouTube Video easily. http://www.youtube-converter-mac.com/free-youtube-downloader.htm If you wanna edit videos before importing to WMM, I suggestion this all-in-one program, download youtube video+ convert videos + rip dvds + edit videos.
