What is the best treatment for moderate, persistent acne?

What acne cleanser/treatment is best for me?

  • I'm in my late-teens and I'm looking for an an acne-fighting cleanser to supplement my existing basic one (Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser). I have oily combination skin, but I don't break out that often nor do I get a lot of pimples when I do. I do however, I have a lot pigmentation left over after they heal. Considering that, I'm looking for a product that will prevent acne and my secondary priority is something to heal or fade away the existing scars. Since I'm more interested in an acne-preventing product, my question is which ingredient would be better, salicylic acid? Or benzoyl peroxide. I know salicylic acid is a mild exfoliant and that benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria, but I'm not sure which product to choose. In terms of actual products, currently I'm looking at the Neutrogena Oil-Free Stress-Control Power-Cream Wash (SA) and Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser (BP). Would you recommend either? Or a different product? Do you have any suggestions for a good acne-scar fading product? Thank you.

    You can try Egyptian Magic Cream, Mederma or lemon juice with honey, both are well know for acne scars. Most of the products are cheap and effective :) If you want faster result, you can try out chemical peels. There are some which is safe for acne scars problem and you can do it at home without spending lots of money. I am using Salicylic Acid Peel, because I have both acne and acne scars on my face.
