How To Trade Gold?

Can i trade a pokemon from Pokemon Heart Gold to Pokemon Black back to Pokemon Heart Gold?

  • Basically i want to evolve my Haunter to a Gengar. I am currently playing on Pokemon Heart Gold and the only games which i have on DS are Heart Gold and Black. I have a second DS (my brother's) to trade to. Is it possible to trade my Haunter to Black from Heart Gold then once it evolves into Gengar trade Gengar from Black back to Heart Gold?

  • Answer:

You cannot trade between Gen IV (HeartGold) and Gen V (Black). You can transfer Pokemon form IV to V where as you take your Gen IV Pokemon and permanently move them over to Gen V, but you can never trade between the two games. You can also never transfer backward from V to IV. I'd recommend going to a message board or trading site and asking someone to trade with you to help you evolve. Most people would easily help you.

No. You can trade to a higher generation, but not to a lower generation. If you could borrow any other gen IV games (Soul Silver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum) you can trade to that and trade back. Or you could try the evolution trick in the GTS. Put your Haunter up for trade and ask for something impossible. Then complete a different trade, and take your Haunter back. The game should think that it was traded and it'll evolve to Gengar. Just be aware that there is a risk with doing that, maybe clone it first (which is another trick entirely).

No, since they're both 2 different generations so you can only transfer Pokemon, not trade. So you can send Pokemon to Black, but not back to HeartGold. The only 2 Gens that supported trading with each other back and forth were 1st and 2nd Gen Pokemon games.

You can only transfer Pokemon upwards in the Pokemon games in terms of Generation. DPPtHGSS are considered Gen IV games, while BW are considered Gen V games. While Pokemon can be transferred from DPPtHGSS to BW, this cannot happen the other way around.

ReignOfComputer

No. Because the sprites/character data files ect of the 5th gen would not be on any other games below that gen. Thus you will not be able to trade any pokemon from 5th gen games to lower even if they are not unova pokemon in themselves. Sorry.
