Special marriage act - Danish national/Indian national?
-
I am a danish national wanting to marry my Indian national boyfriend, who is from Kashmir. He has not been living there the last 10 years but still has his permanent address there in his parents house. We are considering the possibilities of marriage under the special marriage act since we want our marriage certificate quickly and because we want a marriage that is valid by international law. But there are some questions still: 1. Are there any problems regarding the special marriage act and the state of Kashmir? I read something about that but I could not completely understand the problem. 2. Is it possible for us to marry in another state - e.g. the state where he is living and working but not having his permanent address? 3. This one is quite important - will there be sent any notifications of the intended marriage to his permanent address which is also his parents address? We do not have their consent and it would create lot of trouble for us if this was the case. 4. Can his parents succeed in objecting to the marriage just because they are against it? I really hope to get some answers because these Indian systems can be quite confusing.
