How can I get rid of a Smart virus?

I have a trojan virus, how can I get rid of it?

  • My laptop seems to have picked up a trojan virus. -.- And em, the kind of..anti virus thing I had clearly didn't work to disable it. I've been searching through a couple of websites that say they can get rid of them..however you have to pay quite alot of money, and I was just wondering if anyone knew any websites that can get rid of trojan and other viruses for free. It would be a great help.. I've gone into a kinda safe mode right now or something, so hopefully that will help for now.. I am of course willing to pay if there is no other way out of the problem, though I was just thinking that there is surely a good, trustworthy..anti virus kinda website out there that is actually free..? So em..any suggestions, or advice that anyone has please comment. Thanks.

    Two of the best places to get help for nasty virus and malware infections are the forums at majorgeeks.com, and bleepingcomputer.com. You'll probably have to exchange upwards of a dozen messages with the forum volunteers there to rid yourself of your infection, so you need a forum where it's easy to converse with those helping you (i.e. not the Yahoo! Answers format).

Two of the best places to get help for nasty virus and malware infections are the forums at majorgeeks.com, and bleepingcomputer.com. You'll probably have to exchange upwards of a dozen messages with the forum volunteers there to rid yourself of your infection, so you need a forum where it's easy to converse with those helping you (i.e. not the Yahoo! Answers format).

Trojans can be a bit tough to get rid of. You did not say which antivirus you are using nor what operating system. For an antivirus good free ones are avg, avast and Microsoft security essentials. Note that the MS one works best with vista and above. Do not load a new antivirus without removing the old one. For the Trojan download both malwarebytes and superantispyware. Neither program runs full time so they can be used along with an antivirus. Run both in safe mode.

Hello, You should not have to pay to get the virus removed, You can use: Avast: http://www.avast.com/en-us/index Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free Super Anti-spyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/ Hitman Pro: http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro All of these programs are free and do a wonderful job of removing viruses. I would use Malware bytes first, if the trojan is tough and does not allow malware bytes to run the use rKill first: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill I hope this helps,
