What is and how to patch ps2 games?

PS2 - HD Collection Games - and PS2 Classic?

  • I know there are some HD Collection games on PS3 from the PS2 Games such as Jak , MGS, ETC Does anyone have the actual PS3 Collection games? Are they all on 1 disk? Are they the same as the PS2 Version? i mean are they smooth - is there any lag, or glitches in the ps3 version? Can you turn the HD Off i you want to? How do you like the collections? as in are they Same on PS2 and PS3 just more in detail graphics? -------- In the PSN Store - there are some PS2 Classic Games Need for Speed Most wanted? Does anyone have this? If yes, how is this game, i am thinking of buying this, is it laggy? is it worth the money ? Now with the classic does it mean there is 0% chance of memory card corruption? How do you save and re load the games? is it easy?

  • Answer:

Yep (prepare to read a lot, I'll explain everything you asked for you.) They're all on one disc and the disc version does the same things as the download version off the Store. Both support graphics up to HD 720p, support 3D gameplay and also have trophies. The HD will only work if you have an HDTV that supports that resolution and an HDMI cable. Otherwise it will play at 480p. To reset the graphics if you have the TV and HDMI you simply have to reset the PS3 to use it's default settings and it will go back. I myself have the Jak and Daxter Collection and The Sly Collection. Both are fantastic and worked flawlessly. Actually I would say the games are better on the PS3 because they went back and remastered it (so it took away some glitches they had on the PS2 versions like walking through walls and such. I also found there to be a bit less game lag as well, but I have an HDMI cable and I've set my PS3 to hardly lag at all *the TV I have is good too which also helps with lag*.) Not to mention the graphics are better so it made it more worth it and the trophy support was a nice bonus for Platinum Hunters like myself. They just made already amazing games even more amazing and more fulfilling by bringing it to the PS3. There is never 0% chance of memory corruption. You just have to avoid it from corrupting in the first place which is easy enough. Instead of using a memory card like the PS2 did, it will actually go onto the PS3's HDD itself. The saving and loading is exactly the same as the PS2 version, the difference is it will save to the HDD in the Saved Data Utility (PS3) in the Game section of the XMB. To avoid data corruption just don't unplug the system while it's on (EVER! Not only can that corrupt data, but it can corrupt the whole HDD or damage the system itself) and while the actual game itself is saving don't power the system off either. That will also corrupt the data. If the game is for PS3 it will state "PS3" somewhere (either on the game case itself or it will say it in the download version somewhere.) If it doesn't say that then it's not for the PS3, so double check before you buy anything. Hope that helps.
