Why won't my computer install 'Yahoo Messenger'?

I appologize for being slow getting back to you. I seem to have lost a day somehow... Ok, so what I would like for you to do first... go to start (bottom left hand side (usually) looks like a blue circle with windows logo) Select all programs Select accessories RIGHT click on "Command Prompt" Select run as administrator When asked if you want to allow elevated privledges to this program, select yes when the black (DOS emulation) box comes up, type "chkdsk /f" without the quotation marks. It will say that the disk is locked and cannot be ran at this time, do you want to do so at next reboot. select yes (type y and hit enter) reboot your machine It will go through a series of blue screen checks. after that is done: Go start (the blue windows ball at the bottom left (usually) of the screen) Select all programs Select accessories Select system tools select defrag Let this run it's course. This may take a while. After these two things have been done: Go to start--that blue windows ball again go to all programs select windows update check for updates and make sure your system is fully updated Reboot your device again. Update your anti-virus software scan for viruses go to yahoo again (or skype if you changed your mind). Disable your firewall totally (usually through your anti-virus) go to start--again lower left hand (usually) go to control panel select windows firewall Make sure it is diabled download your programs ONCE downloaded turn your firewall back on. You should only be running one firewall. At this point, run another virus scan (full scan). Let me know if you have any additional issues? thank you for your patience. P.S. If it downloads but fails to initialize, try turning the firewall off again. If it initializes, that means you have a firewall conflict. Turn your firewall back on, virus scan again (always virus scan if you are connected to the WWW with your firewall off even for a second). Then let me know the firewall that you are using (Windows, Norton, McAfee, Webroot, etc) and I'll see if there are any known conflicts between those two. Also let me know if it is Yahoo, skype, or both. :D thanks again for your patience.
