How are my monologues? Suggestions?

Can anyone with theater experience answer a question of mine about monologues for an audition?

  • So I'm auditioning for a part at my high school. Though, I don't know the parts at all or any character or what play it is, we are being judged on our skill. To audition we have to have a monologue age appropriate and one that isn't over used and shows our skills. I just have a question, do you think the monologues from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown are over used and age appropriate? I was looking at the monologue from Sally about the coat hanger sculpture and Lucy's monologue about being a queen. Oh and I'm a 15 year old girl. Thank you and please be welcomed to give me tips for finding monologues if these aren't good. Or any suggestions of a good monologue. Thank you very much!

    Thos are both fun monologues, though the coat hanger sculpture is from Snoopy, not You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. As for being age approp. Of course they are. Those shows were written to be performed by adults. You could not really cast them wih 8 yo's all around :) If you go to your local library or Barnes and Noble, they will have books that are monologues for young actors. They contain a few dozwn each, both comedy and drama. Take a look at the musical Runaways. It has some KILLER dramatic ones for teens Best of luck
