How to change icons on Macbook?

I can't change my desktop icons.?

  • I got Windows 7 first. I'd went to one of the shortcut Icons and right click it. Then went to it properties. Where it say general, shortcut, security, details, previous versions. I'd click shortcut. Then I'd went to where it said change icon, and click it. Then I'd select the right icon from it below list and click ok. But it wouln't let me. It said I need administrator permission to change this setting. This is my computer. There no need it should say this. I need to change all my icons to it right settings, but it won't let me without the administrator permissions. Is there anyway to get my desktop icons back to the way it was before i'd screwed it up? Is there a way to pass by the administrator permissions. I need help.
