Please help me, got into a car accident?

Got hit in a car accident, need help. PLEASE?

  • Ok so I just got in an accident on my way from class. I was approaching a light turning red so stopped. Then for about a good 5-10 seconds after I stopped. All I hear is the sound of somebody coming to a quick stop and tires burning. Then boom, a guy in a red honda fit slams into a girl in a chevy cobalt in back of me, who then slams into me. After cops came moved us and took our info. After a while the girl who was in the middle was taken care of first im guessing because she had a baby in the back who was ok. Then the cop came to me, now my license was suspended a week ago for an unpaid ticket for not stopping at a red light which I never knew about because I moved and they sent the ticket to my old address (camera caught me), but I had the clearance because I paid it off at the court house a week ago but I havent got it reinstated at the dmv yet, but I showed him a confirmation email because I have an appointment at the dmv for it in 2 days. Now due to this the cop said he wont ticket me for driving with a suspended. Then he proceeded to give me the case number and he gave me the address of the police dept and said the report would be ready in a couple of days. I thought that was strange because my girlfriend got in an accident and was given a report on site by a state trooper. So my question is what happens now? I called my insurance with my case # but they said I need to get the report from the police. Now, will they see that I had a suspended and ticket me when I get the report? Also, will the report have the other peoples info in the accident? Because my sister said I need there info so my car can get fixed by the people who hit me and I didnt take no license plate #'s because i assumed the police report would have that information. I also have a pounding headache and my neck is killing me. Is suing worth it? Thank you so much in advance

Ok.. lets set up some priorities 1) YOU.. if your headache and neck are that bad, you should see a MD before you do anything else. Although when your first question is not 'How am I?' but 'Should I sue?' that really sends a message don't you think? 2) THe Accident.. put your insurance company on notice that there was an accident. THEY should get the accident report and process everything else for you... tell them about your headache and if you went to the doctor forward copies of his bills and his diagnosis and treatment protocol (if any). 3) The license.. you have done all you needed to do.. go down there and pick it up... but if asked you need to point out that you responded promptly to the red light summons and paid the fine long before the accident - assuming that the matter was closed and your driving privlidge restored. That is an honest mistake and your actions support that. 4) The report... don't worry about what happened to your friend. You have been in a multiple car accident with possible injuries.. of COURSE the trooper is going to take a while to write it up. Info.. that was your really dumb part. What, you did not have a cell phone to take photos (from which you would get the plate info)? Bet some of the other drivers did. It is YOUR job to get the other driver's information, the trooper does it for another reason. Bottom line.. take care of your health and let the insurance company take care of the accident.. everyting else will sort itself out and you can do nothing about it.

1. Not all police departments give you a report at the scene. 2. Never heard of an insurance company making their insured provide the police report. Most will order their own copy. 3. They will see that your license was suspended IF it's on the report. But your insurance cannot ticket you, they don't have that authority. It can affect your policy though. 4. Yes, the other party's information will be on the report. 5. You just had the accident today, it's a little premature to be thinking of suing. You probably just have whiplash, which is minor and temporary.
