how to select max and min?

Subwoofers have min and max amount of cubic feet they need in a box so is it ok to have the min?

  • Answer:

Its better to have more free air within your enclosure, this will help with ensuring your driver doesnt bottom out (over excurting) or become too movement restricted (air compression). Happily most drivers these days will take a lot of abuse before this happens so you would have to really badly design your enclosure before either of these were to happen. Sonically, you are almost certainly better to have the higher capacity enclosure, bigger box = deeper bass (unless you are doing extra trickery with folded ports etc). Im sure you know what you are doing if you've gotten this far. xoxox
