Can you set a proxy for a VPS?

I tried searching the interwebz for this but I kept getting "How to setup a VPS as a proxy". I'm running a server soon and I was trying to see if it would be possible to run a proxy behind it. It'll have a flash loader, so I don't know how that'd work. If I can setup a proxy on the server (I'm buying 2 servers), how can I set it up so that they read the second(proxy) server and they attack it instead of the actual server I'm running? Can I? Is it possible? Of course, smarter hackers can probably bypass it, but the ones who use basic programs who will just read the IP through packets won't really have a chance if it works that way.

WIth genious security ideas like that you could get a job at Microsoft; working on Internet Explorer maybe. If you're serious then look into proxy software like polipo or squid, there should be plenty of guides on how to set them up.
