Google+ connected w/ Youtube account now?

I want to make another YouTube channel but it made me make a Google+ account (which makes you put in your real full name.) Then I logged onto the new YouTube account using the Google+ account and my channel name was my real full name from what's on Google+! I don't want that as my channel name, nor have that shown publicly! When I made my other YouTube account (before google + was even invented) I made it with my hotmail account. Is it possible to make a YouTube account now without using google+??

you click view channel then edit profile then you get to change it

no, you need to use google+ now but there is a way to display a username instead of your google first and last name though, which will make the channel appear like if it wasn't connected to google go to the youtube settings http://www.youtube.com/account_manage under "channel settings" , there is an option "Rename channel with channel URL and hide the Google Profile information associated with it."
