Do tums help with nausea?

Constant nausea after a 4 month old case of food poisoning.?

• Ever since I got food poisoning about 4 months ago, I have had nausea everyday. The only things that seem to help are fruit, soda, and sometimes mints (pepto bismol, alka seltzer, and tums don't). The catch is I have to keep whatever it is in my mouth as long as possible or the nausea returns instantly. The problem I have though is that it makes it hard to have a busy, people-centric job because I always have to run to the break room for another piece of fruit or a drink. The more I think about the nauseous feeling, the worse it gets. I have considered gastritis and even just a case of emetophobia. Does anyone know what is causing this, or have any suggestions to get rid of it? I'm worried that this problem will be something I have to deal with forever, which will make it hard to get through work, college, and athletic activities now and in my future. Please help!

  Ask your MD to test you for H pylori infection of the stomach. It is a bacterial infection that leads to heartburn, nausea, ulcers, stomach cancer. It is catchy. So if you do have it have family members tested too. It is easily cured by specific antibiotics. It may not have been food poisoning that you had but H pylori.
