Why doesnt wifi signal show up?

Router doesnt show any wifi on devices and so i cant connect?

  • the last time i was at this house was around 2 years ago and i was able to connect to the wifi then using a random passowrd but now i have a new ipod and it doesnt show the router anymore and the signals i am picking up dont use that password. My aunty(who owns this house) said she hasnt changed the router for three years which is before i last visited. I am unsure how to connect and i did the method of entering the ip adress into the search bar but that came up with nothing. Something that could work is my aunty has another router she got recently from a friend which when i plugged in i could connect but even though it showed a signal i couldnt use the internet at all and this is the samwe on the laptop, my dad says it has to be connected to a phone line which my aunty no longer has as she has now moved to cable. If there is anyway around this please let me know and any suggestions referring to anything i said would be greatly appreciated. My email is [email protected] which you send to or just reply on this. Please hurry as i dont have long here but still want to be able to connect for future visits. P.S i am from Britain and am visiting so i do not know a lot about cable and things like that but my aunty should understand. the router is a webstar one and runs on roadrunner light which was from when brighthouse networks was timewarner i found out that these routers are hidden except to devices connected which explains why i cant see it on the ipod and laptop but how do i change this.me and my aunt were looking through paperwork when she got it we found a username and a password which dont work to connect to wifi but might be to a website which is unknown to us. the type of paper it is on a receipt/work order dont know if this helps also Robert i dont know about the modem you said as there are is only a few cables(a big white one, an ethernet cable and another white ethernet style cable)

  • Answer:

You can try resetting the wireless router. Make sure the cable is running from the modem to the wireless router. and in to the right port on the wireless router. The modem should be connected to the port that is kinda by its self on the back of the wireless router.
