How to bring spouse in Australia with a student visa?

  • Well, my friend is marrying someone who has an Australian student visa. He told my friend that, he would bring her to Australia after marriage. I checked Australian Immigration website and got to know that it is possible to bring family members with one visa. I just want to know how hard it is and anything else should I know?

    After they marry and if the Student visa is for longer than 12 months, your friend can apply for a Student visa as a secondary applicant. She will have to prove that the relationship is genuine and not a sham entered into just to get her an Australian visa; she will have to meet the medical requirements and they will have to be able to meet the additional financial requirements for a partner (return air fare, $6300/year living expenses and medical insurance), but if none of those present a problem, it will be fairly easy for her to get a visa. When she has her visa, she will be allowed to work for up to 40 hours per fortnight throughout the year.
