3D programs & Gaming computer?

I shamefully looked through the site lazily, so the possibility that an answer to my question is already out there. However I request you over look my moment of laziness this one time and answer my question. I am really only looking for estimates. For starters here is what I have now: Notebook OS: Windows Processor: 1.9 GHz Memory: 2 GB DDR2 Video: ATI Redeon X1270 HD: 250 GB The computer will mainly be used for working with 3D programs such as Maya. I will work with animation a bit but I will be focusing more on getting the models to look as realistic as possible vs making them move. I will also be working with photo editing software like photoshop. I will be trying to create landscapes as well, using both programs (something my computer halts its movements at). So the primary focus for the computer is to work well with both the 3D program and the Photo editing program. When I am not fully indulged in my own little world, I will be playing games. Or if you know what WLO is, I'll be AFK training on a game while working with a 3D program. Finding a computer that won't overheat or completely freeze up while I'm multitasking is very important. What I'm seeking in terms of game play is less lag even when graphics are on high. I play mostly FREE to play MMORPG's and those don't take a lot of space. Here are the requirements for one game: This game you have to have at least 5 of its clients open to do anything in it. My computer lags with 4 open clients and I have 2GB RAM. You AFK a lot in this game so I would be on a different computer program/game while the game runs in the background. CPU: Pentiumâ…¡400 Operating System: Window 98/ME/2000/XP/vista HD Space: 1.8G RAM: 256MB RAM Graphics Card: support more than DirectX7.0 Sound Card: support DirectX sound card 2nd Game requirement: This one I can never run with the graphics set on high, I always have to set everything to lowest, and even then there is STILL lag. Also on a side note, its not the servers lagging it is my computer. OS: Windows (R) 98/ XP / 2000 / Vista / Win 7 CPU: 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent Memory: 1 GB or above HD: 2 GB or above Video: nVidia GeForce FX 6600 or ATI Radeon X600 Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card 3rd Game Requirements: Haven't played yet, but I'd like to be able to run 2 clients at the same time. OS: Windows (R) 98/ XP / 2000 / Vista / Win 7 CPU: Intel dual-core processor or equivalent Memory: 2 GB or above HD: 3 GB Video: NVDIA Geforce 8600 (or equivalent) Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card Type of computer I want is a laptop, but I will look at desktops also since 9 out of 10, the desktop will be cheaper then the laptop. Please try to refer me to laptops 1st before referring me to a desktop. OS: mac is preferred, but sadly most free games don't support mac, so I will request you refer me to windows before you show me a mac. I will gladly look at mac though, just show me the windows first. Prices would be as high as $1000 anything over that I don't even want to so much as look at. If you are showing me a mac, the highest I will look is $1350. I really want to spend a lot less...like $200-$700 but you can list things up to $1000($1350 for mac). Ram: I want 8GB - 10GB but if you can explain why a 6GB would be better, besides price then feel free to share. Anything under 6GB I don't want to hear about unless it turns out RAM has nothing to do with my lag issues. Processor: I don't know much about. I want to say 3.0 but you can list anything. If you feel like explaining about processors I will gladly read it too. :3 Sound & video cards: I am a blank slate with these so just explain which would be best to look at and which is the minimal I should accept. HD: No less then 600GB. Finally the Question: Based on what I will be doing with the computer, 3D programs & Photo editing programs, with games running in the background, what sort of computer should I be looking for? One with a whole lot of RAM or high processing ability? Or perhaps a high graphics card is better for me? Maybe a little bit of everything? What would you suggest as the minimal I would need, and what would you suggest as the MOST ideal for me? Yes I do wish I could make my own computer, it would make my life easier. After answering the question above, if you are someone who knows how to make then here is a question for you: If I am able to somehow make my own computer, what parts should I choose to make the most ideal computer for my self, and what is the minimal I can accept? To anyone who manages to answer these questions in clean easy to understand detail, I will gladly chose you as best answer.
