What's the deal with the security certificate?

New social security card! HELP PLEAS?

  • Answer:

He can get a copy of his birth certificate (or if under 18, his parent can) through the office of vital records: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/w2w.htm I'm assuming he already had a Social Security number. If so, all he needs to do is provide the birth certificate and one other form of ID, such as school or employment, to get a replacement card.
