Help with Social Studies?

Really hard social studies question!!! Need help!! Any teachers that can help me?

  • My social studies teacher gives us these things called bonus stories where he reads us stories and we have to figure out who the story is about or where it took place. Well today he gave us a hint on an upcoming bonus story and i need help. Here is the clue: The story is about a man who invented nothing...but that nothing was actually something. There was also a court case over who invented this "nothing." Apparently it was some huge controversy over a guy who invented nothing. I cannot find the answer! I've tried very hard! PLEASE HELP! (sorry it's so long)

    I don't think Gutenberg could be the answer, because he invented the printing press, which is very much a solid object. Maybe it's something to do with the Internet or Facebook, which is something, but can't really be seen.
