If this is not a yeast infection, then what is it?
-
So basically for a while nowI have been battling with what I think is a yeast infection. I took some antibiotics for a UTI and afterwords I felt vaginal itching accompanied by a sourdough bread type smell. I ate tons of yogurt and it went away. Then a couple of months later I had some weird, white thick discharge, and the smell. Otherwise my vagina was abnormally dry. I tried some monistat and it went away only to come back. I tried again; same results. Next I went to my doctor who told me I had some yeast and gave me one diflucan pill. I took it and it seemed to mostly go away but then came back. Afterwards I went back to the doctor, she told me I seemed to have a different strain of yeast and gave me Terazol for 7 nights. This had no effect. Went back: More diflucan, no effect. I called the doctors office and this time they told me that there was no more yeast...but I still have the same symptoms. I am at my wits end...Is this being misdiagnosed..What could this possibly be? I am so stressed out!

Answer:
One of the most common reasons for a constant yeast infection ... it's in your underwear. Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of candida (yeast). The washing machine/dryer is not hot enough to kill the candida. So a lot of the time when you try and get it treated, it lingers in your clothing and it just keeps happening again and again. I had this happen before Let your underwear soak in a solution of apple cider vinegar. Or, put them in a sturdy container, pour some boiling water into it, put a lid over it and let it sit for a while. It sounds crazy, but it does work. Once a week you can take 1-2 cups of apple cider vinegar and pour it into a bath tub filled up to your hips, sit in it for 20 minutes before a shower, as a preventative measure. Never, ever douche If it keeps happening, it might be bacterial vaginosis or trich

If I were you I would get a second opinion from a different doctor. Obviously somethings not right. Hopefully it's not an STD
