Why are the ipod touch 2g selling for more than the 4g? How much can I sell my 2g for?
-
I have been looking on amazon and noticed that the ipod touch 2g is selling for for more than the 4g ranging from 210$ to 245$ for just the 8gb. Is there some sort of software thing with the older model? Also, I have been considering selling my ipod touch 2g 8gb to get the 4g. It is in pretty good shape, the back is a little scratched, but there are no dents, and the screen is nearly scratch free. It has not been updated to the newest software because it has been in my closet for like a year and a half. I could restore it to get rid of any content, and it works perfectly, and has not been jailbroken. It would come with the usb cord, and I have the package documentation if that helps with anything. It also has a thick rubber case for it. About how much can I get for it?

Answer:
They are advertising a higher price because Apple doesn't make them anymore, thus decreasing the supply. But just because they are advertising $250, doesn't mean anyone is buying them. And no, the 2G has no advantage whatsoever over the 4G, other than being more durable (I've cracked my 4G screen twice - my 2G has fallen on the sidewalk and nothing's happened). You MIGHT be able to get $100 for it from one of your friends - you won't get that much if you sell it on eBay or something. Just remember to advertise a higher price (not too high though!), but be willing to pay less e.g. advertise $125 be ready to pay maybe $90.

Are those older and more expensive iPods still in stock? They may be listings for old iPods that haven't been cleared or updated and reflect 3 year old prices. obviously nobody in their right mind would buy them at those prices. I would check the Gamespot site to see how much they're selling comparable iPods there and use that as a basis.
