My chinchilla is really sick?

Is My Chinchilla Sick?Help! Please!?

• My Chinchilla is roughly 3 years old. He is a male who is a usually happy-go-lucky, hyper active animal. Oftentimes, when I pick him up or let him out of his cage, he will sprint around and act crazily. But lately, my chinchilla has look rather tired. Acted sluggish (I can pick him up and pet him and he does not even freak out). I have looked for any abscesses and hair rings, and all seems to be well. Esseantially, my chinchilla just looks out of it and is acting out of it. Yes, he is still moving around and making noises, but to a lesser extent then usual. He seems to be sluggish and mopey. I am really concerned because he is getting enough food and water, I am bathing him regularly. I have checked other sites and threads and I am finding nothing. This 'stage' started about three or four days ago. I am afraid. All he does is just sleep and remain relatively motionless in his cage. The worst part, i do not have the money to finance a trip to the vet. does anyone have any suggestions or possible theorys as to why my lil guy is acting so different. Please help! :(

  Lethargy (inactive, not eating, not moving a lot) can be fatal to chinchillas. Is he pooping normally? Are they tiny and crumbly and unhealthy looking (you can tell a lot from chin poops)? You just need to take him in to the vet as soon as possible to have him checked. You need to find an exotic vet that knows about chinchillas so they can give you the right information.
