Would this community tank work?

What fish for a community tropical 90L tank?

  • Hello, I'm getting my son a 90L tropical tank. I really wanted to get a Siamese fighter fish but I don't want a lone fish and I keep reading different things about whether to put them into a community tank or not so I've decided to not do down that road and to get two Dwarf Gourami's in cobalt blue instead. Alongside it I was thinking of, a golden bristlenose pleco, 6 glow light tetra and 3 guppies. Do you think this is a good combination of fish? Also is this the right amount or too many (I get told I can have loads in pet shops but taking the inch to a gallon rule it doesnt work out as much)? Thanks!

  • Answer:

barbs and clown loaches are good.. The barbs are very hardy. Also bala sharks are pretty easy and are really cool.

That sounds like a good stock but if your getting guppies make sure they are all males or you might have tons of baby guppies (which would be a nice snack for the gouramis). Make sure you have plenty of places for the gouramis to claim territory and places for the plec to hide. Also make sure you cycle your tank. It takes 6-8 weeks to complete the nitrogen cycle. If you dont know what this is I would do some research on it. Keep up with the 25% water changes once a week and you will have healthy fish.
