Is it too late so sign up for cyber school?

Who thinks cyber school is good? Do you think it's better than regular high school?

  • My son wants to do cyber school in 10 grade because of the school he has good and bad days he just started High School 9th grade this year what a big adjustment and some kids are just rude to him. He like some things about the school like his friends but there are some real jerks in the school so he was asking about cyber school. My husband says he does not want him cyber schooled he thinks no socialization.

  • Answer:

I always had a hard time in High School and I took a few online classes over the Summer to gain some credits to graduate. I personally really liked it, I found that the teachers are really helpful and I learned a lot more and got better grades through online school, than I ever did at my actual high school. You could always enroll him in some clubs outside of school that could help him socialize with his peers. If he plans on graduating from the cyber school it would be better if you looked into it now to find out what the graduation requirements are, since every school has different requirements. Most online schools host a graduation ceremony to hand out diplomas to their graduates, so he won't miss out on that experience.

No social interaction is a big concern, but as long as he's involved in other social functions like church, sports team, or elsewhere, I see no problem with it. Several parents of kids that I know had their kids go to high school online and it worked out well for them. Make sure your son is responsible in getting his homework done, though. It's still high school, you just don't have to physically attend. Plus he'll never get to wear a cap and gown, but if he doesn't care then it doesn't matter.

Asher

No. You don't get the same interaction with the teachers and kids who are in online and homeschool tend to procrastinate more. There are jerks everywhere and honestly he needs to get used to rude people because he will have to deal with them forever. Sorry to be harsh but it's the truth.
