Do you have to have a data plan if you get an iphone?

Get the AT&T Unlimited Data Plan with an iPhone 2G?

  • So about 2 months ago, I found out that you could get on the unlimited data plan by activating an iPhone 2G with your SIM card. There was many articles going around and on eBay and Craigslist there were a lot of people offering to do the service so know I want to get the unlimited plan (I don't care about throttling) and I see that there is not a single person selling the sercice on eBay or Tucson Craigslist. Does anyone know if it still works and/or can anyone do it for me?

    I dont see how this is gonna work... true the iphone 2G has the unlimited data plan and APN code... but the 3G/3GS/4/4S are under a different data APN... thus requiring a new code.. or else you have no data on the iphone 3G/3GS/4/4S not to mention, since you were not a customer before 2009... the system hasnt put the grandfathered APN code in your account... I dont see how this is technologically possible in their Billing System just sounds like a bunch or troll non sence
