Which camera would be better?

Which Camera is better? Canon Powershot S100 or Sony Cybershot HX9?

  • I'm looking to replace my old Casio Exilim S-12 that recently broke. I've had this camera for about 2.5years so I think its time for a major upgrade. I'm a noob when it comes to camera specs. But, why would the CanonS100 be better than the Cybershot when the Cybershot has a 16X zoom quality compared to the 5x on the canon. On top of which, the canon has the same amount of megapixels as my old camera from 2.5 years ago. Please give me specific details on why which is better it'd be much appreciated. :) Also, I'm looking between these two and want a camera that has really good photo quality at night. I'm not sure which is best at lowlight but it'd be great to have. And A MAJOR importance is video quality. I go to alot of Concerts with heavy/fast bass (trance & house music) and wonder if these cameras can handle the loud noise/bass. My old one was able to so I'm just curious if you guys know or have any experience regarding their video quality, please let me know =] That is all! if there is any more information you'd wish to provide its GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would suggest Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V because if its features and performance. - Wide angle lens and optical zoom (16x) are great: 24mm to 384mm in 35mm film equivalent - Excellent clear display (3", 921k) - Great panoramic mode - you sweep the camera around in one motion and it makes a single photo. You can sweep up and down too if the focal length doesn't change too much. - Generally good photo quality for a pocket megazoom camera. - Can easily fit in a jacket pocket or squeeze in a trouser one (camera is 4.2 x 1.4 x 2.4 inches ; 8.6 ounces) - Video stabilizer is exceptionally good and quality is decent too - GPS records your location - Reasonably quick start-up for photo shooting - about 1 second - Works fine with the 16 GB SDHC Class 10 card I have (I believe Class 6 works fine too) - Auto backlight correction helps to get details with difficult lighting
