What is the proper way to open a laptop lid?

How can I stop shutdowns from closing the lid for a while?

  • My laptop obviously goes into sleep mode when I close it, and that's good. I WANT TO KEEP THAT. (A lot of other google searches only led me to taking that away.) So anyway, here's my question: How do I stop my laptop from SHUTING DOWN when the lid is closed for a few hours? Sometimes, it even shuts down if the lid is open, but the computer has not been in use for a few hours. Basicly, I want it to stay on, no matter what. (While still allowing sleep mode when the lid is closed.) It's really annoying to have to reopen and restart everything I was working on, jus because I have to leave the house for a while. Is there any way to keep it on? I've already tried messing with the power options, and that was no help. I might have missed something, though, so I'm open to answers! Bt the way, I tried posting this question before, and someone just said something like "go to battery settings it is there" when I already said I've been to those settings, and it WAS NOT THERE. So help me please! PS: I'm posting this again because everyone keeps saying to change the "close lid" settings to "sleep mode" and I'm saying this again- ITS ALREADY SET FOR THAT. My computer already goes into sleep mode when I close the lid. It turns off when its closed and left inactive for a few hours. I hope this finally gets cleared up for you guys. Thanks!

All netbooks have a components change that makes it into install function when the display is placed against laptops computer key pad, ie: you near it. There is no way to turn off this as it is a worldwide style function to 1. preserve power supply as it represents that you will not be using it and 2. to secure the going areas as it represents that you are more likely to shift it around when it is shut. You say it comes returning after a while and that's because when laptops computer is revoked it creates all of the information in storage onto the disk generate. The disk generate does not 'boot up' again, but has to fill the RAM picture returning into storage. Since you have 4GB of RAM, this may take some time. Again, it's a style function and it won't harm it. You just have to be sufferer with it.
