How To Convince My Mom to Buy Me a Dress?

• I'm not a dress girl. I'm a tomboy who loves camping, hunting, fourwheeling, and getting dirty. I have never been a girly girl. The last (and one of the only) time I wore a dress was at my 8th grade graduation. I wore the beautiful silk cream colored spaghetti strap dress with blue and brown flowers on it. For Christmas, I found a black sweater dress. I think I have one other dress in my closet, a sundress my mom found at a second hand store. I've never worn either of them more than once. I recently found the very pretty dress by Rebbecca Taylor that Taylor Swift, my favorite singer, wore. It's a silk floral strapless coctail dress. The Rebbecca Taylor is almost $500 (!), but I found a knock off for $38. It looks almost the same, but the skirt isn't as loose and flowy. I showed it to my mom (I didn't let her know TS wore it, she'd think that was the only reason I want it) and she said "hmm.. you already have dresses. You can wear those." I pointed out to her thaat I only have three dresses, two of which are for the summer and has been freezing lately. She replied with "you have skirts". More like 'skirt'. I have one white sheer skirt with peach flowers on it. Like I said, it is COLD where I'm at. I know I don't wear a lot of dresses or skirts but I always feel too dressed up or fancy when wearing them. Another is they don't fit. I graduated from the 8th grade when I was 14, now I'm 16 and, frankly, my boobs have gotten huge. I went from a B to a D in two years and I've gained a lot of weight since then. I really don't get why my mom won't buy me the dress. It's really cheap ($38! Less than a pair of jeans) and the last time I bought clothes it was when Iwent shopping with my grandma on labor day weekend. My grades have been really good all As and Bs (except for failing my biology test last week,but that was a one time thing and it didn't effect my grade that much.), I've had great grades all through HS, and I haven't behaved any worse than usual. Sure i argue with my mom, but it's no knock down drag out screaming matches. Plus, she has said numerous times she wants me to dress more like a girl and wear dresses. I even have my dad, grandparents, and aunt as witnesses. So why is it now that I want to look like a girl that she doesn't want to buy me a dress? Any other time I know she'd be willing to spend twice as much to get me in one. I was thinking it might be the fact that I'd also have to spend, like, $50 on a good strapless bra (which, even though I hate doing so, I would try on)? Any ideas why she may be acting this way? Thanks for you suggestions, I wll keep them in mind, but I don't drive yet, so my mom always goes shopping with me. My birthday is in January, so I don't think I'd want to wait until then.. The Easter bunny still brings me a basket each yr, so I'm thinking of asking my mom to, er, pass the message along (plus, she owes me. My family always gets each other valenes and this yr she forgot and I got shorted. All i got was some stale chocolate from my great aunt (how does chocolate go stale!?!?! 80, so she owes me).

  Wear your black sweater dress maybe with some tights or leggings, a few times like once a week. Try on the other dress you have and show your mom that they do not fit. You can also clean out you wardrobe by donating the clothes that don't fit and wear anymore. Show an interest in dresses and then your mom may buy you that dress. Your mom may think that if she gets you that dress that you will not wear it.
