What is mid voice?

What is wrong with my singing voice?

  • I have been practicing my voice everyday for an audition and I can sing really high and i have vibrato to my voice. Well for a few days now, my voice feels tired when I sing and my throat starts to feel scratchy and my voice starts to sound raspy, even when I sing low monotone songs. When I try to go high, my voice breaks. And I also feel like my voice is being blocked and I have to strain for it to come out. usually it just comes out high and natural without trying hard at all. I hace been practicing and it hasn't felt like this before. I'm getting headaches when I sing because I have to push so hard and my throat hurts after. I can always sing natural where my voice just flows and comes from my doaphragm. I don't know whats happening. But I don't have a sore throat. It only does this when I sing, not talk. What is wrong with my voice?! Is this permanant? I'm very worried, singing is my life! What should I do?!?! Please help.

  • Answer:

Did you warm up your voice before you started? If not then that could be a reason why. Also, if you are forcing notes out that you can't reach then that can harm your voice. What I do to warm up is I do scales, lip trills ( lol I learned it in singing lessons) Then I sing defying gravity from wicked, and then I sound a lot better. I know that is a weird warm up but, it works for me! I dont think that it is permanent. Just give your voice a rest for a day or so and make sure you are singing from your diaphram and not your throat/nose. Good luck at the audition!!!
