Is marketing a communication course?

What course do you think i should take?

  • Can someone help in the course i want to take, I'm a bit confused. Last September we took the NCAE (National Career Assessment Examination) and the result was given yesterday, here's an overview: GENERAL SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE (GSA): Scientific Ability = 99 (732.05) Reading Comprehension = 99 (716.66) Verbal Ability = 99+ (760.94) Mathematical Ability = 49 (497.93) overall GSA: 99 (726.09) TECHNICAL-VOCATIONAL APTITUDE (TVA) Clerical Ability = 93 (644.24) Visual Manipulative Skill = 93 (647.08) overall TVA = 95 (665.86) Non-verbal ability = 84 (599.07) Logical reasoning ability = 99 (731.02) ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILL (ES): Planning and Decision Making = 34 (459.46) Budgeting, marketing and forecasting = 36 (462.67) Creativity = 41 (478.10) Overall ES = 31 (450.54) The occupational fields of interest given was : Artistic (1st) and Enterprising (2nd) - I wanna take Architecture since i have a good background in drawing. but I'm not sure with my mathematical skills, i suck at math, but are there ways on how to improve it? (side question). As of the result, it seems like my communication skills is at its best, but I'm not really sure about taking Mass communication (actually my first choice before thinking of taking Architecture) I do love speaking in front of other people but I'm not really sure about it, and i don't know why. And yes, I love Science. It's my favorite subject. I was thinking of taking a course in the field of science, especially biology. my third choice is BS Bio or Microbiology. and my second choice is Multimedia Arts, I Love Editing photo's, videos and stuffs. and yes, i always get a high grade in my Technology and Living Education Subject (only in the field of computer and technology) if only i could take two or three, but no, I can't. so, can someone please help me? Here's my interest and hobby: Using the Adobe Photoshop and Sony Vegas, Drawing, Designing, Reading Books, Computer (anything inside the computer) Cooking, talking, making reports. Please help me. thanks in advance. Thank you for answering! So does it mean that in an office you all work as a team? but are there some people who work alone? like doing private houses and not a community building? I also lack the skills in math, should I assume it as a hindrance when i take Architecture? Yes, I believe that's an Architect's main weapon. But, is it really required that i have to be really great in math to be successful in the said course? I'm 15 and i still use my fingers often during math tests.

  • Answer:

It seems your spatial reasoning is quite high. Take a look at Google Sketch-Up (free) and Revit 2012 (30 day trial). These are the tools my office uses (35 people) to do our work. From concept through to construction documents. For any accredited degree program in architecture you will be required to take a statics class (minimum) and perhaps even up to a first year calculus. Architects need to be good at a large number of skills. Speaking in public, to explain designs to various governmental boards in seeking approvals, marketing (sales of your skills to potential clients) pretty picture graphics to wow the audience, design skills, nuts and bolts (how do I prevent water from entering my building). That is why we work best in teams, because it is rare that any one person has all of these skills honed to perfection. I personally am very good at public speaking, nuts and bolts and construction administration. Others on my team are the slick designers and others still know how to take those slick designs and turn them into cool renderings. So you see, you do not need to know everything. Pick what you want to excel in and then just get by in the others. I hope this helps. Good luck.
