When would a person have to pay back a pell grant?

    If you are past the Drop-Add date but before 60% date, then you will owe back 1) 3/4 of your grant 2) cost of tuition, fees, books, etc... paid on your behalf that you no longer qualify for but used so, let's say you got $1000 in Pell Grant - you would owe $750 in addition, lets say your tuition, fees & books total $2000 for the semester... you would still owe even if you withdraw.... so, your eligible amount of grant now only covers $250, you will also owe $1750 If you must withdraw, then wait until 60% date In any case, you will end up on Fin Aid probation for future semesters because your % completion rate will be 25%
